Sponsored by the People’s Daily, Seminar on Urban Development of the Silk Road Economic Belt was recently held in Beijing. Chairman of CITS Group Wang Weimin attended and spoke at the meeting.
With Silk Road Linking Dream, Media Promoting Development as its theme, the seminar provided a platform for mainstream media of 11 countries including China, Russia, Kazakhstan, etc., officials of related ministries and commissions as well as provinces (municipalities), districts and 54 cities along the Silk Road, representatives of the business sector to hold consultations on regional cooperation and seek collaborative development.
Wang Weimin pointed out in his speech that the choice of supporting and pilot industries was crucial for the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt. In the light of the current situation of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the tourism industry, ambitious efforts in promoting tourism industry would be a crucial breakthrough in the economic development of the Silk Road Economic Belt. Besides, he elaborated the characteristics of tourism industry, the inheritance of regional resources and the exiting basis for cooperation.
Wang believes that the most urgent tasks in boosting the tourism industry along the Silk Road include policy support, transportation, marketing and innovative tourism product. Through building tourism channels and improving accessibility as well as constructing a number of selected tour routes and core scenic areas, the Silk Road will truly deserve the reputation of internationally renowned brand of tourism and world-class destination and the development pattern of large-volume industry, sizable market and comprehensive tourism.
He concluded by highlighting that accelerated development of the Silk Road tourism would require joint efforts of the government and the business sector over long periods of time. CITS Group would engage in such efforts with all stakeholders by leveraging on its nationwide business network to promote Silk Road tourism and contribute to the construction of the Silk Road economic belt.
