On June 27, the “Excellence Cup”, the first employee skill competition of CDFG, was jointly held by the Labor Union and the Youth League Committee of CDFG in Beijing. Assistant President Chen Zhenhai and the Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the CITS Group Corporation were invited to the activity. Meanwhile, Tian Lun, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and Chairman of the Labor Union; Huang Huiqin, Director of the Operations Management Department; Guan Wu, Director of the Human Resources Department; Zhao Qunce, Director of the Party Committee Office; and Deng Lizao, Secretary of the Youth League Committee attended the activity. At the opening ceremony, Chen Zhenhai was invited to award the 2012 “Advanced Unit in Employee Skill Competition of Central Enterprises” to Sanya Duty Free Store. He also encouraged the players to put in the utmost effort to show their skills, style and ability.
The competition was divided into two sessions: a commodity knowledge quiz and a sales techniques contest, in order to assess the players’ ability in theory and in practice. Over 40 excellent frontline employees participated in the competition. They were from 14 subsidiaries of CDFG, including Sanya Duty Free Store, Ruili Border Duty Free Shop, Qingdao Airport Duty Free Shop, Guangzhou Airport Duty Free Shop, Kunming Airport Duty Free Shop, Hekou Border Duty Free Shop, Qingdao Airport Duty Free Shop, Xiamen Gaoqi Airport Duty Free Shop, Erenhot Border Duty Free Shop, Changsha Airport Duty Free Shop, Urumqi Airport Duty Free Shop, Hangzhou Airport Duty Free Shop, Shenyang Airport Duty Free Shop, China Duty Free Trading Airport Retail Store, and Wanding Border Duty Free Shop. After fierce competition, Urumqi Airport Duty Free Shop, Sanya Duty Free Store and Hangzhou Airport Duty Free Shop ranked top in the commodity knowledge quiz. In the sales techniques contest, facing the challenges of “customers”, the players showed their professionalism, wit, patience and carefulness, which were praised by the judges and the audience. It fully reflected the overall good quality and high standard of service of the CDFG employees. In the end, six players won the sales techniques contest, including Wu Xiaoqiong from Xiamen Airport Duty Free Shop, Yang Laomei from Ruili Border Duty Free Shop and Huang Fengmei from Guangzhou Airport Duty Free Shop.
After the competition, Zhao Qunce, Director of the Party Committee Office, said that the first employee skill competition was fierce, intense, interesting, and full of positive energy. The competition stimulated the enthusiasm and innovation of the employees, improved their service ability and professional standards, and effectively promoted the implementation of quality service. Tian Lun, Chairman of the Labor Union, said that the employee skill competition set up a platform for the employees to show themselves and to communicate with and learn from each other. It was a good way for the Labor Union and the Youth League Committee to jointly carry out work, and they will continue to hold this activity in the future. He also called on every employee to try to create other improved competition items to attract more employees to participate in this activity.

From head office to retail terminals, from leadership to frontline employees, and from the professional training to skill competition, the company has followed the core strategy of “strengthening the company through talented employees”, integrated various educational resources and channels, set up a system to cultivate talents in the group, and built up a skillful and professional employee team. This competition to some extent was also a test for work of the talent team. Although the competition has finished, CDFG will take this opportunity to initiate a new round of learning themed “practicing in competition, and promoting employees’ interaction”.
