• Grand Opening of Balmain Pop-up Store in Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex of CDFG

On January 3, 2022, the new Pop-up Store, jointly established by CDFG and Balmain, made a grand debut in Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex. CDFG, as the exclusive retailer of Balmain in Hainan’s travel retail channel, maintains a closely cooperative relationship with Balmain, aiming to perfectly present the brand’s unique French style in Sanya. Meanwhile, the Pop-up Store also launched Balmain×Barbie Capsule Collection exclusively sold in Hainan travel market during Spring Festival.

Balmain was founded in 1945 by Mr. Pierre Balmain. Since its establishment, Balmain has had uniqueness and sexiness inscribed in its brand DNA. With distinct femininity and complex luxury style, Balmain clearly stood out from the prevailing pragmatism at that time, which soon sent itself, the icon of Paris fashion, into the exquisite wardrobes of European socialites and Hollywood stars. In 2011, Olivier Rousteing took the office of Creative Director of Balmain at the age of only 25. From then on, Balmain has managed to develop a clear-cut style with highly recognizable features. In addition to drawing inspiration from Balmain’s rich collection of classic works and making full use of the exquisite traditional fashion craftsmanship, the young designer gave Balmain a unique profile and fashionable appearance, showing the lifestyle of “Balmain Army” that he and other young people of his generation represented.

“For our first retail store in Hainan, we want to design a space that is compatible with our existing stores,” said Jean-Jacques, President of Balmain, during the opening ceremony of Balmain Pop-up Store in Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex. Drawing inspiration from 16th century French classicism, the Pop-up Store in Sanya, with patchwork wood floor, showcases garments and accessories under glittering lights and archways. The Pop-up Store interprets the aesthetics of Parisian luxury architecture in a contemporary design language, echoing to Balmain’s consistent philosophy of creatively reinventing the norm and boldly breaking the convention. The Pop-up Store presents its “Neo-French Style” to Sanya for the first time as the epitome of Balmain’s brand image.

The Barbie Capsule Collection, exclusively sold through Hainan travel channel was launched in the Pop-up Store this time, making unique and new presentation of Balmain’s classic style. Olivier Rousteing made a bold combination of the patterns of the Barbie world with classic elements of Balmain. Being a model in the cross-field innovation between fashion industry and toy industry, Balmain skillfully applies the eye-catching patterns of Barbie dolls on badges, T-shirts, and hoodies, with the most signature Barbie pink applied in the whole collection to fit perfectly with the boldness of the modern Balmain Army.

In recent years, China’s fashion industry has been seeking changes to cater to the current consumption needs of the new generation of consumers who want to show their personal taste and attitude towards life through purchasing fashion items. As a popular designer brand in recent years, Balmain has won the favor of many young consumers through reinterpretation of its classic PB Logo, epaulettes, embroidery and glittering rock and roll military uniform style. At present, CDFG is actively expanding its business, further optimizing the brand structure of Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex. With the landing of Balmain Pop-up Store, Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex takes a solid step forward on the road of actively expanding the proportion of young customers in the customer base, and brings customers more unique style of garment products and more complete consumption experience.

The grand opening of Balmain Pop-up Store not only represents a good beginning of the cooperation between Balmain and CDFG, but also fully reflects the positive progress in the multi-dimensional cooperation between CDFG and high-end luxury brands. In the future, with the strong support of its parent company China Tourism Group, CDFG will further strengthen its communication and interaction with global brands, explore new direction and new development of fashion boutique duty free market, and contribute more to the prosperity and development of China’s travel retail market.
