The world’s largest duty free store—CITS Haitang Bay Duty Free Shopping Center will be officially open in Sanya, Hainan on September 1. Conceived and constructed by CITS Co., Ltd. over two years and managed by its fully-funded subsidiary China Duty Free Group Co., Ltd., Haitang Bay Duty Free Shopping Center is expected to bring island duty free shopping onto a new height with its super-size, wide selections and innovative services with its completion and launching into business, marking a new milestone in the development of duty free business in China while providing a new platform for Chinese consumers to experience world-class duty free shopping without travelling abroad.
As the world’s largest single-structured duty free store, Haitang Bay Duty Free Shopping Center is of approximately 120,000 square meters in total constructed area, including 72,000 square meters of business area, of which the perfumes & cosmetics zone accounts for nearly 8,000 square meters, second to none among city duty free stores in Asia Pacific region. The shopping mall houses nearly 300 international premium brands as well as global flagship stores and concept stores of certain brands which will open to consumers for the first time. Besides duty free shopping, the shopping center also includes diversified business forms such as catering, souvenirs of Hainan and tax-included business, hence incorporating more functional experience into the shopping center to offer consumers more enjoyable one-step tourism shopping experience.
The past three years since the implementation of island duty free policy in Hainan, visible changes have taken place in tourist consumption structure, with the percentage of shopping expenditure increasing sharply from 13.8% to 27.6%, and island duty free has become a new business card of Hainan tourism, which is transforming from sightseeing to a combination of sightseeing and shopping.
