CITS Chairman Wang Weimin recently headed for the Jeju Island, South Korea, for inspecting the local duty free market. He was accompanied by CITS Vice President Peng Hui and Yu Ningning, President Assistant Chen Zhixin, CDFG Deputy General Manager Chen Guoqiang and others.

Wang Weimin and his entourage successively visited the Lotte Jeju Duty Free Shop and Shilla Duty Free Shop for the field investigation on their counter sales. He also had an in-depth communication with principals from those two shops, inquired about the local duty free policies, stock channel, sales achievements, customer source and so on in detail.

Wang Weimin pointed out that among consumers of the Jeju duty free market, Chinese visitors account for up to 90%, indicating that South Korea and China face the same consumer market in the duty-free field and he said that CITS should take targeted actions to exploit the market. He also stressed that CITS should pay high attention to the South Korea’s duty free market and actively learn experience from South Korea in such sectors as product variety, service, price and managerial expertise. According to him, CITS should accelerate the integration of its duty free business and travel agency operation, give full play to the advantages of CITS brand and the network, exert more strength on the development of the domestic duty free market and try best to make domestic consumers consume at home.
