Chairman of CITS Group Wang Weimin and his delegation recently held a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to the ROK Qiu Guohong. Consul-General of China in Seoul, Dong Minjie, Vice President of CITS Co., Ltd., Chairman and General Manager of CITS Head Office Yu Ningning, President Assistant of CITS Co., Ltd. Chen Zhixin attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Wang Weimin thanked the embassy and the consulate for their tremendous support for CITS Group over the years. He briefly introduced the business profile, services and healthy momentum of development of CITS Group to Qiu Guohong, with a highlighted elaboration of the latest development of the two major businesses, i.e. duty free retail and travel agency services. He remarked that CITS Group attached much significance to the expansion of China-Korea tourism, with fast growing business with Korean travel agencies as well as visa services, and that CITS Head Office receives approximately 600,000 tourists from Korea annually. He reassured that CITS Group would actively respond to the calling of the central government and the strategic demand by SASAC for enterprises under direct leadership of the central government to go global by constantly strengthening in-depth cooperation with Korean enterprises such as Hanatour.
Qiu Guohong stated that President Xi Jinping’s visit to Korea marked a new starting point of the bilateral relations and that both countries shall share development opportunities and deepen cooperation. He emphasized that a significant opportunity was presented in the proposal by President Xi Jinping to vitalize the people-to-people exchange between China and Korea, to launch China tourism year in Korea and Korea tourism year in China respectively in 2015 and 2016 and to achieve the goal of an exchange of 10 million people in 2016 between the two countries. He expressed his hope for CITS Group to seize the opportunity by actively expanding travel services in Korea and contributing to China-Korea tourism and cultural exchange, adding that the embassy and the consulate would continue to provide support and services for CITS. He also asked about the Korea Visa Service Center of CITS and expressed his intention for a visit.
